I’ve wanted to do something like this for a long time, and I finally got my chance a few weeks ago, during a shoot of Madison. We were in the studio, and this particular studio has an upstairs where the shooting space below is visible. So, I set up a little Canon PowerShot G9 camera, and set it on time-lapse mode.
It recorded the entire shooting session, shooting one frame every 2 seconds.
The video starts off with Daeron cleaning the place up first, and then I come in and start setting up lights. Then Madison enters the picture and starts posing. The entire shoot took about 30 minutes, and here it is squeezed down into a few seconds.
(Also - some frames were cut out of the sequence, specifically frames that showed me a little too clearly. I am much more attractive when I am hiding behind a camera. 
)
The redesign of JoyofSpex was missing something, and I felt it needed some depth to it — as in allowing visitors to get to know the girls on the site. I figured that there was no better way of doing that than with video.
I went back into the archive and pulled out the raw footage for some of the site’s more popular girls and ended up amusing myself greatly in the editing process.
Each girl on JoyofSpex is interviewed on video, and they all talk about their glasses, and about sex, and whatever other stuff they can come up with. Then they’ll either masturbate on camera, or they’ll have sex with someone (a girl, a guy - whoever they happened to bring with them to the shoot.)

I am constantly looking for new places to shoot pictures, but it can be really difficult at times. Sometimes I am about to book time in a studio, some times I am able to shoot on-location at the model’s home. Sometimes I even shoot pictures in my apartment.
The studio stuff can start looking the same after a while, and the shoots from my apartment are obvious and repetitive, so if I have the chance to elsewhere, I jump at it.
I was able to convince a friend to let me do a shoot at her house. She didn’t have a problem with it, but I think she may have been a little weirded out with the idea of her boyfriend getting his rocks off by watching someone other than her get naked (and then give herself an orgasm.)
She ran out of the house with her boyfriend (I remember she actually pulled him out of the house by the arm) and asked me call when it was all over. Funny. It’s similar to the weird feeling you get when house cleaners are cleaning your home, and you are just sitting there. It’s just better to get the hell out and wait for them to leave.
Katia was the model in that particular shoot, and I think the results worked out great. We got some good images, some good video, and I actually really liked her. She was smart and nice.
We ended up doing shoots in my friend’s living room, dining room, and a video in their bedroom. It was really nice to have a different setting for this shoot.

Sometimes it is a real challenge to come up with new things to do. Especially when you are shooting in a studio, and especially when you are shooting in the same studio over and over. Sometimes we will actually go to the model’s house or apartment and do an on-location shoot just so we can have a different background.
When I shot a series of images of Opal, I was wondering if there was something new I could try. We’ve already shot pictures in every corner of the studio, including the kitchen, and I was beginning to think we’ve exhausted our options.
Then I realized that I never actually shot a model on a plain studio backdrop, which is something that’s fairly common. So, hell, that’s easy. I set up a the back seamless background paper and placed a stool for her to sit on.
For the entire shoot, I barely moved. She did most of the movement and I just shot from one general direction. I was thinking that this could be sort of like a “naughty schoolgirl class portrait”, where she sits on the chair all nice and pure and innocent looking, and by the end of the shoot she’s stripped naked and loving it.
I told Opal to put that in her head as motivation throughout the shoot, and I think she really got into it.
I thought I would include a “before” and “after” (or “innocent” and “naughty”) series from this shoot just for fun, but in the process, I came across an image that I like for some really subtle reasons. (The image at the beginning of this post.)
Something about the way she is moving when the picture was taken, the way she is holding her body, and how it doesn’t look posed or fake. She was actually taking off her panties when I took the image, and I find that images taken when the model has stopped “posing” for a moment, and has to do something real, can be pretty interesting. It definitely gives a different view from the same shoot, and I almost always like those images best.
When the person in the picture is being “real,” it really shows. I try to shoot pictures “between the poses” like this as often as possible.

Shooting Sachi was a total mind-fuck. One of those times where you think you know what to expect, and then you end up throwing all those expectations out the window. Nothing applies.
A lot of things pop into my mind when I remember shooting her. First, of course, was how nice, and sweet and polite she was. Quite, and shy — yet, here she was ready to take her clothes off for all to see, on the Internet. At first I wasn’t sure if she was going to say, “Wait… what? No way I am doing that… I thought this was a casting call for JC Penney models… I am outta here…” But she didn’t.
Right away, I knew we had a winner here. Based on the magnification level of her glasses alone, I could have just shot pictures of her, fully clothed, in her glasses, and a whole bunch of JoyofSpex members would have enough material to hold them over for a while. In case you don’t know - the more extreme the prescription, the better.
She knew her prescription strength, but it was in some Japanese system and it made no sense to me. However, just by looking at them, they’re probably somewhere in the -8 neighborhood.

Shooting Sachi’s face from straight-on shows the extreme magnification. See how you can see through the side of her glasses, and you can see how the line of her face is broken? That is some high mag glaseses. Pretty damn awesome. If she takes those off, she cannot see a damn thing.
In total, I shot 3 sets of her that day. A still picture set, and then a video next, and then a second picture set. The first set is always the most difficult because I don’t know the model, and she doesn’t know me, and nobody knows if anyone is going to become uncomfortable - so I usually consider the first shoot to be more of an ice-breaker.
No matter what I asked, where I put my camera, or in what position she was asked to put herself, she was all for it. No problem. She was getting into it.

When it came time to shoot the video, she wasn’t sure if she was going to be able to have an orgasm on camera, so my expectations were pretty low when the camera first started rolling. But very soon into it, she starts having an orgasm, a big one! Then another one. And another.

The New JoyofSpex
This took a bit longer than I thought it would, but it’s finally done. (Well, it’s *done enough* that it can be launched. More things are coming for that site.)
The original JoyofSpex was quite old, and the adult industry has really changed in that time. When the site first launched 6 years ago, video was just getting started, and not many websites actually had it. Those sides that did, had video that was small in size, highly compressed, broken into many different smaller parts, and low in quality. That was acceptable in those days - but not today.
Video is now king. Everyone wants it, and they want it at a huge size. They want super high quality. They want to be able to download these videos and save them to their hard drive, to view over and over again later on — without having to pay extra. They want these videos available in whatever format is most convenient to them, and they don’t want to have to keep closing and opening smaller files in order to see the full video.
This was a big reason for the redesign. We had small videos, that were highly compressed, not easy to save to your hard drive, and were really meant to be viewed within the web browser. In addition, the old site’s format didn’t actually have a “members area” like most other sites. The whole site was a member’s area, and if you happened to be logged in, this meant you had a valid cookie which allowed you to see the content that was for members only.
Most sites will create a “members” directory, and throw all the good stuff in there - and just put a username/password on that directory. Accessing anything inside this directory requires a valid user/pass. This makes it much easier to protect the content, but more difficult to show people what’s inside. One good thing about the old site was that just by adding content to the site, you were simultaneously updating your “tour” because the whole site was the “tour.”
(Hopefully this isn’t too technical and boring. If so, sorry… it will be over soon. )
The bad thing about the old format was that, technically, all of our embedded videos were totally exposed to the public. Anyone with the desire to access every one of our videos, for free, had the ability to do so with a little homework on their part. Why? Because it was impossible to embed the videos in the pages and simultaneously protect them from being hotlinked.
Ok, boring and technical. But, the point is, all of our videos were placed in a totally exposed directory. Not good.
The new site addresses that issue as well.
Let’s talk about the new site! Larger videos (640×480), longer videos - in many cases, over 20 minutes long without interruptions, higher quality videos without all the crazy high compression, available in Windows Media format, Quicktime, and iPhone/iPod formats. All of which can be easily downloaded to a user’s hard drive.
People also have a choice in how they access the content. If someone doesn’t like the idea of paying a monthly subscription fee, they can get the content in a pay-per-view format, or just download individual movies, or even buy an old-school DVD. Everyone has a different preference, so I thought it wise to cater to that.
Now with the heavy-lifting done, I can get back to adding more naked girls-in-glasses pictures to this blog. Which is probably the most important thing anyway, right? Ha.
Still working hard on the redesign of JoyofSpex, but it should be complete in the next day or so.
